Samer Omar is a seasoned leader and subject matter expert with over 26 years’ experience in the areas of Cyber Security Advisory, Consultancy and Security Management complemented with business development, project management and architecting solutions across all major sectors. He is a serial entrepreneur who understands how to leverage consulting services and technology to solve problems in building a better world for his clients.
As a EY MENA Partner, Mr. Omar focuses on expanding EY’s Cyber capabilities into the Government & Public Sector in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia while working with his fellow Cyber Partners to support all major sectors. Mr. Omar was previously the Chief Executive Officer of VirtuPort where he leverages his experience to promote Cyber Security Thought Leadership via MENA ISC and Hackathons, Cyber Security Advisory Services and Cyber Security Products to clients throughout the Middle East & North Africa. Mr. Omar was the Cyber Security Advisor for STC Group from 2016 – 2019 where he helped develop and support a Cyber Security Transformation Program unparalleled in the region for telcos. Prior to that Mr. Omar helped modernize the Security Risk Management & Compliance functions at du, promote Verizon’s Cyber Security Portfolio to clients throughout MEA in addition to expanding Qualys to clients in MENA as they launched their IPO. Mr. Omar is also the co-founder of IT Security Training & Solutions – I(TS)2 where he was the CEO from 7 years and helped the company become the most recognized and respected Cyber Security company in Saudi Arabia with over 150 people.
Over the past 17+ years he has been focusing on the Middle East and Africa region. Mr. Omar holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Systems Engineering from George Mason University and a broad range of certifications including: CISSP, CISM, CISA, CRISC, C|EH. He has also contributed to the Cyber Security Industry by participating in conferences, delivering speeches, facilitating discussions along with the industry international and regional leaders to spread awareness about various cyber security topics.
